Dr. David Bird
Veterinarian, Practice Owner

Dr. David R. Bird is a 1974 graduate of the University Of Georgia College Of Veterinary Medicine. He has had a private practice in Morehead City since 1975. He has specialized interests in laser therapy, orthopedics, dermatology and internal medicine.
When asked what Dr. Bird does for a living he will say “veterinary medicine”; when asked what he does to make a difference he will say “share the gospel.” Radically saved in 2001, he has given his life and practice over to GOD. He attends ministry seminars every 6-8 weeks across the country. He is an active leader and teacher of evangelism with The Great News Network.
He is married to Kelly, who is also here at Morehead Animal Hospital. He has a daughter Kristen and twin sons Ryan and John. Dr. Bird and Kelly reside in Atlantic with their 3 dogs and 8 cats. Dr. Bird is an avid outdoor sportsman and enjoys hunting and fishing. |

Kelly Bird
Licensed Veterinary Technician

Kelly Bird, who is married to Dr. Bird, is a Licensed Veterinary Medical Technician. Kelly has specialized interest in dentistry, surgical assistance, nutrition, and laser therapy.
While spending 40 hours a week here at Morehead Animal Hospital, she is also pursuing her Masters in Christian Counseling and is in part time Children’s Ministry at Smyrna Pentecostal Holiness Church. Kelly is also active with foreign missions, spending about 6 weeks per year in Asia and Central America.

Jill Richardson Farley
Licensed Veterinary Technician

Jill Farley is a 1979 graduate of Central Carolina Technical College in Sanford, North Carolina. She has an Applied Associates degree in Veterinary Medical Technology and has worked at Morehead Animal Hospital since 1989. In the past she has also worked at an animal shelter in Alexandria, Virginia, and worked as an educational volunteer in the Craven County Humane Society. She has specialized interest in animal behavior and canine reproduction. She attends veterinary seminars for continuing education annually.
She is married to Earl and lives in Newport. Jill has quite a fondness for Disneyworld, believing it was truly created for adults. Feel free to ask for travel tips!

Amy Penuel
Veterinary Assistant

Amy Penuel has worked at Morehead Animal Hospital since February of 2003, and previously for several years at a clinic in Charlotte, NC. Amy assists Dr. Bird in numerous procedures with our patients and hospitalized pets. Amy is our resident laser therapy technician who can answer many questions in regards to this latest technology. Amy comes from a dog show family and, along with her mother, has shown Bearded Collies since childhood.
Amy and husband Michael have a son, Logan, born in 2006, and are expecting their second child in December of '08! They live in Cedar Point with their 4 dogs (Beardies - Evan, George and Katie, and Toy Poodle Jordan) and 3 cats. Amy is also one of the trainers at Canine Playtime, a local dog training club. When she is not pursuing her canine interests, Amy enjoys spending time with her family on their boat.

Tashelle Jamieson

Meet Tashelle Jamieson, our newest member at Morehead Animal Hospital... She has a deep love for all animals and wouldn't hurt a fly! She has been working in the Veterinary field for several years and truly enjoys every aspect of working with animals. Tashelle has two of her own "little angels" - a pair of precocious Chihuahua/Japanese Chin mix sisters that she absolutely adores. Tashelle hails from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, and now lives in Morehead City with her husband Jeff. "Shell" as we like to call her, uses her giant heart to make everyone around her feel good.
